For those who stumble across these videos, a speed run is a video of a person or persons, completing a game as fast as possible using any means possible. This can include glitches, abusing in-game mechanics and skipping items or even playing events out of sequence.
Released in November 1994, Donkey Kong Country was the first appearance of the classic Donkey Kong character on Super Nintendo. But you don't actually play as that same Donkey Kong; he's old and cranky now. Instead, you play as his son, the new Donkey Kong, who goes on an adventure to find his stolen banana collection. Donkey Kong Country is a platform video game developed by Rare and originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System on November 21, 1994. It was the first Donkey Kong game not produced or directed by Shigeru Miyamoto, the character's original creator; instead, it was produced by Tim Stamper, although Miyamoto was still involved with the project.
Following an intense marketing campaign, Donkey Kong Country received very high critical praise and sold over nine million copies worldwide, making it the second best-selling SNES game. The game was later re-released on the Game Boy Color in 2000, the Game Boy Advance in 2003 and on Virtual Console in 2006. However, the Virtual Console version was delisted, along with its sequels, in November 2012. Source: Wikipedia.org
