Part of my "Things with 12,000 Volts" series of movies - this is plugging a standard lightbulb into a 12kV socket with ground linked to a foil shell wrapped around the top.
Most people think that light bulbs have a vacuum in them to prevent the filament from burning out - there are usually enough gases inside a bulb to put on a good show.
It was also the first bit of footage I shot with a DSLR (Nikon D3100)
At 30ma it will give you a bit more than a tickle, so I wouldn't recommend touching it.
