Join me as we measure, cut and stitch together a custom leather steering wheel cover for my vintage VW Karmann Ghia. It took about 12 hours of work time to go from junky plastic to handcrafted leather steering wheel. The upgrade makes driving the car just that much better. I'm so glad I moved this higher up on my priority list. For about $40 worth of leather, this project was TOTALLY worth it. The hide is a buffalo calf in matte black. I used the sewing machine to lay out 80% of the holes by taking the thread out of it, folding over the two edges and running both sides through the machine at the same time. This was a tip I picked up from Ish at West Coast Customs in this video: http://www.getlinkyoutube.com/watch?v=fJEm7SKbFWE
