HOW TO CROCHET A BOWL/BASKET
COPYRIGHT, 2013, M. E, Harrington
(In crochet, hook size and yarn size are VERY important.)
WORKING WITH A SIZE 6.5MM CROCHET HOOK, AND 2 STRANDS OF WORSTED WEIGHT YARN:
1. Chain 2, make 8 single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook.
2. Begin working in a spiral: *2 single crochet in the next stitch, single crochet in the
next stitch, repeat from * until the bottom of your bowl is the size you like.
3. Now begin working the sides: Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around, working
in the back side of the stitch only. At the end of the row, slip stitch to join.
4. Working in both sides of the stitch, and working in a spiral, single crochet in each
stitch until the bowl is as tall as you would like it to be.
5. For the rim of the bowl: chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around, making 2
single crochet in every 4th stitch, slip stitch to join and fasten off. Weave yarn ends
into the finished work.
Turn the bowl so that the ridge created in the last row of the bottom is on the outside.
