There's a right way to train...so, we went to one of the premier training centers in the world and of course, all of college football. That would be the Ohio State University football strength training complex at The Woody Hayes Athletic Center. When Head Football Coach Urban Meyer got to town, he immediately summoned his long time colleague, Strength & Conditioning Coach Mickey Marotti to take on the task of training the Buckeyes to make competitive runs at national championships. Marotti had done it at Florida twice with Coach Meyer.... so they set out to accomplish championships at Ohio State University. Their first season garnered a perfect 12-0 season. Not a bad start!
Marotti assembled a strength training staff with a wide array of talents, expertise and motivational techniques. Jeff Uhlenhake is a a former Buckeye All-American and 10 year NFL star. Kenny Parker has Florida Gator roots and knows how to extract the right intensity from the players during workouts. Rick Court is non-stop energy from 5am till 5pm.
And, in this video another former OSU star, Anthony Schlegel talks Front Squat technique. Schlegel was a 3rd rounder himself in the NFL 2006 Draft (NY Jets) and had stint with the Cincinnati Bengals, too. Anthony was a popular player at Ohio State where he was a 2005 All Big Ten selection. Interestingly, he also owns a few powerlifting world records!
