Hong Kong Egg Waffles sometimes referred as egg puffs, eggettes or bubble waffles is a popular street food snack . I am so glad I could use my Pop-Cake maker to make this snack! It work really well & I am so excited that I can now make many childhood snacks using this pop-cake maker so my daughter has a taste how it´s like for me during my early years.
I ate this when I was in Hong Kong many years ago, it bring back many nice memories when I was in Hong Kong.
Traditionaly , a special iron pan is used, it is cooked on stove top. I personaly find it quite heavy for my arm and the heat distribution is not easy to distribut evenly.
With this awesome Pop-cake maker, it made the job much lighter & easier. Even my daughter could do it! My daughter find this way of baking super tasty and fun!
How to make Hong Kong Eggs Waffles
7⁄8 cup flour (4 oz)
2 tablespoons corn-starch (1 oz)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1⁄2 cup sugar (4 oz)
1⁄4 cup evaporated milk (2 oz)
1⁄2 cup water (4 oz)
1. Combine condensed milk & water, mix all dry ingredients in a bowl, beat eggs & sugar until puffy and stir in everything until a smooth batter.
2. On the Pop-cake maker, grease the cavity (Optional) & fill each hole with batter and let cook for approx. 3 minutes.
3. Using a chopstick or knitting needle, removed the cooked puffs & repeat the procedure, put cooked puffs on top of uncooked batter and cook for another 3 mints.
