Before he famously uttered the words “You Can’t See Me” and had 15 World Title Wins,
Before he parlayed his wrestling career into that of an actor and killed it in Trainwrecked.
Before he started a third career as that of a rapper.
Before he deafeated the Big Show in WrestleMania XX.
Before he lost a match to Britney Spears ex Kevin Federdline.

He grew up in a wrestling family with his father a match announcer and businessman in the industry, but John had other ambitions. First it was college football and following graduation he moved to California with only $500 in his pocket to become a Venice Beach Bodybuilder. At this time, he slept in his car and cleaned toilets to get by and later as a limousine driver. Eventually he would find his calling as a wresteler, initially under the moniker “The Prototype.”

Born John Felix Anthony Cena on April 23, 1977, in West Newbury, Massachusetts, the second of John, Sr. and Carol Cena's five boys. His father is of Italian and Albanian descent, and his mother is of French-Canadian and English origin.

As a kid growing John spent many hours glued to the television watching Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and Shawn Michaels go at it in the ring.

At an early age, Cena showed a passion for sports and working out. At 12 he got a work out bench for Xmas. By the time he was 15 he was a a gym rat and, after graduating high school at Cushing Academy, Cena headed off to Springfield College in Massachusetts to study exercise physiology and prove his worth on the football field.

At Springfield, Cena turned himself into a Division III All-American offensive lineman and team captain.

In 1998, the college graduate revealed to his disproving parents that he had decided to move to sunny California where he would lift weights for a career.
