This is a review and comparison of the 3doodler and the 3doodler 2.0. I’ll be discussing; what’s the same, what’s different, and what I think of this new pen
What’s the Same:
-Both pens have 2 speed options (fast and slow)
-Both of them can use ABS and PLA
-And Take the same amount of time to heat up
-Changing colors is a little inconvenient. Once you’ve used most of the color you’ll have to use what’s left before switching to the new color
-The 3doodler 2.0 has a new slimmer design which I like because it’s more comfortable to hold
-It comes with a few tools for fixing issues, but I haven’t had to use them
-The 3doodler 2.0 draws more consistently where the original 3doodler pauses a lot when drawing
-Both of these pens make noise when using them.
-The 3doodler 2.0 is a little quieter but changes pitch frequently whereas the original 3doodler is louder but has a constant sound.
-The 3doodler 2.0 takes longer to load and unload plastic. It’s very slow
-The on switch for the 3doodler 2.0 is labeled high and low, but the old 3doodler is labeled abs and pla. I think this is better because then I don’t have to remember which temperature is for which plastic.
-The label on the new pen is not as clear so you’ll need to remember; high is for ABS and Low is for PLA
-The 3doodler 2.0 nice feature where you can double click and the plastic keeps coming out
What I Think of These Pens:
-I really like the design of this new pen, however there are still room for improvement such as being able to load and heat up plastic quickly, as well as draw faster
-If you don’t have a 3d printing pen yet getting the 3doodler 2.0 is a great choice. BUT, it’s not the only 3d printing pen out there. Before you buy one check out my reviews of other 3d printing pens! :) links below.
