Jim Flournoy of Old River Sawmill reclaims an 1828 dam timber from the City Mills crib dam. The City Mills Dam was altered numerous times between 1828 and 1904 with a major reconstruction in 1885 but the base timbers were laid in 1828. The base timber is an axe cut heart pine log that has been cut into two 14' long pieces. The axe cut end measures 29" and the center measures 23" which makes both pieces scale out at 740'.
