I wanted to use Pig Hearts in this test, but could not find anyone in my area that could provide them... so I instead used some tough skirt steak meat, and rolled it up into a heart shaped and size. This should pretty closely match the muscle density of going through a human heart.
Unlike my previous simulated human torso ballistics test, this time I embedded both the ribs and the simulated hearts directly into the gel block. I just don't see how I can come any closer to simulating the real thing than I did in this test! I also show some slow motion of the bullet impact on simulated torso.
Since there was only room in the gel block for two simulated hearts, I choose to shoot my two most used carry ammo rounds for this test. The first shot was a 9mm Lehigh Defense maximum expansion bullet, and the second round was the Lehigh Defense 45 Colt Judge/Governor maximum expansion bullet.
