Here is my cooler stereo, I wanted to build one because there is so many videos on Youtube about custom coolers, and they have inspired me to build one for my needs. We like to go camping and this unit will work as a cooler and a stereo jam box. The battery pack will also charge cell phones and run my LED lights for my tent.
The unit is a Igloo 28 Quart Cooler with a hidden stereo 300 watt amp connected to a pair of water resistance speakers rated at 120 watts each. There is a power input and a stereo input built in to the handle of the cooler. Once a 12 volt battery is attached, the amp is powered up. A line stereo connection allows for an mp3 player or a Bluetooth adapter to be connected to supply the sound.
The unit is loud and is set internally to about half power which is good enough for some full range distortion free music plus some cold items as well. One thing I believe is unique to my cooler design is the use of a heat gun to melt the inner walls of the cooler enough to allow the speakers to be mounted without having to cut into the interior of the cooler. The worst part of the build is cutting out the foam insulation, and having to vacuum it all up, the stuff gets everywhere.
