VINITA, OKLAHOMA — An Oklahoma mother is filing a police report against a daycare center after her two sons suffered serious sunburns following a day at a local miniature water park.

On Friday, employees of the Happiness Is A Learning Center daycare in Vinita, Oklahoma, took the children to a splash pad but didn’t bring sunscreen on a day when the heat index neared 118 degrees Fahrenheit, the boy’s mother, Shauna Broadway, told Buzzfeed.

Broadway told Buzzfeed got off work to pick up her sons at 5 p.m. and found them to be clearly sunburned. She said daycare employees made fun of the boys when they saw their condition and said her older son was being a baby and crying about it.

The brothers were taken to three different area hospitals over the weekend as their symptoms grew more intense. The kids were eventually airlifted to a children's hospital in Galveston, Texas.

Older brother Conner Harvey, 7, suffered third-degree burns, while brother Trey, 5, had second-degree burns.

Happiness Is A Learning Center is now under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security and by the Vinita police.

Police said no other children were burned at the splash pad and are reviewing video from the facility to verify if it was a case of care of neglect or child abuse.
