This is a test between the Photon XT 4.6x digital night vision scope and a home-made night vision unit.

The Photon was lacking at a 127 yard distance but was pretty good at the 60 yard range. The home-made unit could see more clearly at both distances.

Focus with the Photon is critical and near to impossible to get a good view. Turning the objective end to focus results in either too much correction or not enough.

For the home-made unit, I used the EJ-230 bullet camera as suggested by Roland on YouTube at Rolaids Night Vision 1.0. The little bullet camera sitting behind a daytime scope is pretty impressive. My daytime scope was set at 6X.

For illumination I used the LLTL-001 illuminator that operates at 850nm.

For the money, the Photon is a good choice for a close-range night vision scope.
