Time to take a look at an outlaw motorcycle gang - OMG - that is not a big name outside of the USA, and today it is the Galloping Goose MC, one of the long time bike clubs. The club was formed in 1942 by a guy called Dick Hershberg as a racing club with it`s riders and friends. They were chartered in 1946, and established chapters in various states. They were one of the clubs at the infamous gathering of bikers in Holister in 1947, made into the film "The Wild One" with Marlon Brando and Lee Marvin, six years later.
The GGMC has long had a very close association with another OMG, the El Forastero MC, and even shared a clubhouse with them when the EF chartered a chapter in Kansas City in 1965. The GG has had a grip on Kansas City since the 1950`s but now inroads are being made into their territory that expanded for one hundred miles around Kansas City by rival outlaw clubs. They took over the Pharaohs MC in the 80`s & 90`s, and had the Midwest Drifters as a puppet gang, using them basically as errand boys.
It was in 2009 that Police busted all the KC El Forastero chapter and a number of the Goose, on various charges and the EF are said to be no longer in KC. The Goose have also lost numbers due to age and one Law Enforcement officer said that they have steadily been recruiting. Clubs moving in have included the Outlaws, Bandidos, Mongols, Vagos & Sons of Silence. The Goose are affiliated with the Hells Angels, whilst all the other clubs are deadly rivals to the Angels. The Goose have a dozen chapters, mainly around Missouri and Louisiana.
