Why facial massage is NOT good for your skin | Avoid friction which damages skin cells

You might think massaging your face is always a good idea, but the truth is that facial massages aren’t good for you when done excessively.

To be clearer, I don’t recommend daily facial massages. In fact, I don’t recommend facial massages at all except for relaxation purposes.

First of all, massages increase friction on your skin. Any friction causes skin cell damage and darkens your skin.

For instance, look at your knees, elbows, or bikini line. You might find some darker skin there because these are high friction areas. This is the evidence that friction damages skin cells. Every time friction hits your skin, the skin thinks it’s damaged from outside so it tries to protect itself by thickening the skin cells. This thickening is what darkens the skin.

The purpose of a facial massage is to improve blood circulation. If you want to have better blood circulation, why not try facial muscle training? This training not only prevents sagging but ggives the benefits of improved blood circulation without causing friction.

If you haven’t watched the facial training video yet, please check it out.

I already have done a video about how to apply face cream. The traditional way of applying cream causes friction so I highly recommend taking a more gentle approach, which is introduced in that video.

If you still need a facial massage, use a lot of lubricant and be as gentle as possible. It’s ok if it’s not frequent. I do understand that facial massages help you to relax.
